Codespaces

Hosted development environments are not implemented yet.

shithub does not currently offer a Codespaces-equivalent product. Actions runners execute short-lived CI jobs; they are not persistent, interactive development workspaces.

Current status

Codespaces remain a paid-organization launch blocker until shithub has real workspace lifecycle, interactive access, policy controls, usage metering, and billing separate from Team seats and Actions minutes.

What must ship first

  • Workspace lifecycle. Create, resume, stop, and delete persistent repository workspaces.
  • Interactive access. Provide authenticated browser or SSH access without exposing the app host.
  • Organization controls. Let owners choose eligible repositories and who pays for usage.
  • Usage billing. Meter runtime and storage separately from Team licensed seats.
